Benz

Mercedes-Benz traces its origins to Karl Benz's creation of the first petrole-powered car, the Benz  Motorwagen, patented in January 1886 andGottlibe Daimler and engineer Wilhelem Maybach's conversion of a stagecoach by the addition of a petrol engine later that year. The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901 by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz company. Mercedes-Benz has introduced many technological and safety innovations that later became common in other vehicles. Mercedes-Benz is one of the most well-known and established automotive brands in the world, and is also the world's oldest automotive brand still in existence today.

The new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S opens surprising dimensions when it comes to open-top driving. Provides 478 kW/650 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 335 km / h, this two-seats Cabriolet superior to the existing benchmark among open-top super sports – the SLR McLaren Roadster. Both vehicles feature a full lifting just folding soft top in a position to withstand the high speed and are made of carbon fiber.

The two models equipped with a high degree of safety and extreme torsional stiffness. In addition to increased power, the new SLR McLaren Roadster S 722 features even more dynamic suspension tuning and improved aerodynamics. Despite enjoying exceptional performance, the new Roadster’s passengers in no way lose out in terms of comfort or the vehicle suitable for everyday use. With its sporty, premium-quality interior appointments and distinctive motorsport pedigree, the new SLR McLaren Roadster S 722 is limited to 150 vehicles and will inspire the most discerning automotive enthusiasts.

Spectacular dimensions in open-top driving is opened by the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S. With an output of 478 kW/650 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km / h, the two open seats wiser default to open-air super-sports, as SLR McLaren Roadster. Both have a full recessible soft top suitable for high-speed running, and is made of carbon fiber. This produces a very high level of security and extremely high torsional strength. In addition to a higher engine output, the new SLR McLaren Roadster S 722 has an even more dynamic suspension setup and more aerodynamic improvements.

By naming the new model variant SLR Roadster S 722, Mercedes-Benz is recalling the historic victory won in the classic Mille Miglia long-distance race in 1955 by British motor-racing legend Stirling Moss and his co-driver Dennis Jenkinson in a Mercedes – Benz 300 SLR with start number 722 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster S 722 continues the legend of the successful 1950s SLR racing sports, with innovative technology adopted from the world of motorsport.

The powerful heart of the SLR Roadster 722 S is a Supercharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that is hand-built Mercedes-AMG engine shop in Affalterbach. The special strengths of this high-performance engine cover extraordinary responsiveness to movements of the accelerator, a high torque and an unmistakable V8 sound. Moreover, with an output of 478 kW/650 hp and 820 Nm of torque, power at each other almost to excess (SLR McLaren Roadster: 460 kW/626 hp, 780 Nm). Hence the new model variant fulfill the wishes of the most discerning customers for even more sportiness combined with excellent daily practice.

The five-speed automatic transmission developed by Mercedes-Benz is designed for high performance. It is specially configured for a very high torque, and allows the driver to choose between two sets of switching properties. As a result of the Roadster delivers results figures, there are still outstanding for high-end sports car segment: SLR Roadster 722 S absolves a sprint from zero to 100 km / h in a breathtaking 3.7 seconds, and 200 km / h is reached in 10.6 seconds . The maximum speed is 335 km / h, which is unrivaled by any other series-production roadster.

The spring and shock absorber configurations of the suspension is stiffer, and the body has been lowered by 10 millimeters on the front and rear. This ensures greater stability handling of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster S 722, with a significant improvement in handling dynamics. Lightweight, 19-inch forged aluminum wheels allow a background of red-painted brake callipers at high-resistant carbon-fiber/ceramic brake discs, which makes for impressive deceleration figures.

The outstanding qualities of the 722 S is supplemented with full recessible fabric soft top, which blends harmoniously into the flowing lines of the Roadster. They weave structure of this high-tech roof material reflects the carbon-fiber look, guaranteeing full daily fitness in all weather conditions and gives the vehicle a top speed of 335 km / h – an extraordinary figure for a roadster. Thanks to the favorable aeroacoustics, conversation during the open-air travel is still possible at well over 200 km / h.

The soft top opens and closes semi-automatically in around ten seconds, which combines comfort with expectations purist character of the roadster. At the opening, the roof must be unlatched on the windshield frame and lifted a bit, after which it can be folded down electrically. The front part of the soft top features an integral aluminum cap, which effectively prevent “ballooning” at high speeds.

Handling and aerodynamics in this high-than roadster was optimized for high speeds in the wind tunnel. The aerodynamic concept follows that of the SLR coupe, with an airbrake integrated into the boot lid, a closed during the body and a diffuser in the rear bumper to ensure maximum down force on the rear axle. The so-called airsplitter the front end augments this down force, while small wheel spoilers reduce turbulence on the rear axle. The result is precise handling and steering at high speeds.

In technical terms the 722 S benefit from the long experience with Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren. With the exception of two aluminum frames, the body is entirely carbon-fiber materials (CFRP). This makes it very unusual among high-performance sports. Especially for the Roadster, the sophisticated carbon-fiber technology was developed more self-sustaining. The result is low weight, exemplary energy absorption and therefore a high level of safety of passengers, plus a torsional stiffness that is unprecedented for an open-top car. It offers excellent handling characteristics, which only exist in closed super-sports.

A high degree of security is provided by unique carbon-fiber crash structures, steel-reinforced A-pillars and two fixed rollover bar. Other safety features include adaptive airbags, knee and hand bags, belt tensions DERE and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The Roadster has a crystal antimony gray paint finish, which highlights the sculptured look of this high-performance car very effective. The carbon-fiber technology is visually complemented by the black, grid-like ventilation openings on the bonnet and the front and rear light modules with palladium gray surrounds. In the interior, outstanding lateral support is guaranteed by the sports bucket seats upholstered in a combination of semi-aniline leather / Alcantara. Striking visual highlights are provided by contrasting seams in 300 SL red, the 722 S embossed lettering on the head restraints and also red belts. Frequently used controls such as shift and parking brake levers are lined in special high-grip and moisture-absorbing suede leather. In the interior, too, the generous use of carbon-fiber stresses high-performance philosophy and adds a special touch puristic.

The exclusive agreement covers two-zone automatic climate control, a high-quality BOSE premium sound system, a multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles and a navigation system with an integrated radio and CD player.

Not only does the new SLR boast a rich heritage, but it is also the new flagship of the multi-dimensional Mercedes-Benz brand. With by far the broadest product portfolio of any luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz offers an array of models ranging from mid-size coupes and large premium sedans to luxury roadsters and the SLR super sports car.
